So after going over a small chit-chat with Lisa on this post I decided I want it on fashion, See the point I'm looking with regards to Hang Ten sponsoring the Lifesaving South Africa Surf Nationals event this year, my point is simple really, Hang Ten is Urban Fashion, which ever way you look at it Hang ten is street culture in fashion and trends, i use to love wearing shorts and halter tops from the store because that is what we did when relaxing at the beach, having been a few minutes away from the beach i can only say that this news item is a fashion blog item which ever way you look at it, after all who said sports is not fashion?

This annual event has a long standing heritage, dating back to 1936. Hang Ten's proud association began in 2007. Hang Ten, a fashion driven lifestyle brand are continuing their sponsorship of the 2011 Hang Ten Lifesaving South Africa Surf Nationals, which will be taking place on 30 March to 2 April 2011 at the scenic Camps Bay beachfront in Cape Town.

The inter-club competition between 40 clubs from around South Africa compete for the title and prestige of being the 2011 Hang Ten Lifesaving South Africa Surf Nationals Champion.

The basic format of the Junior and Senior arenas is made up of three events, namely the Beach (sprints & flags), Junior Water (under 16 and under 19) and the Senior Water (over 19). The tough water arena includes the surf swim, run-swim-run, board race, board rescue, board relay, ski race, ski relay, double ski, rescue craft race, taplin race, ironman and belt race events.

Every club has their own criteria for selection but all competitors must be a qualified lifeguard with a current retest and must have completed 30 hours of voluntary lifesaving duty. The final winners for each event are awarded gold, silver and bronze medals for their efforts and the participating clubs compete for the following titles: (1) Junior Champion (under 16 & under 19) (2) Senior Champion and Overall Champion.

"This year we were forced the move the event from Muizenberg to Camps Bay due to shark activity along the False Bay coast. The local organising committee has gone out of its way to ensure that the late change of venue does not affect the running of this year's event and they have assured me that this national championship will be the best one yet. The icy cold water of Camps Bay however poses a challenge for competitors, especially for those from KZN, but we will have to wait and see whether or not it gives the Cape competitors an advantage," says Dylan Tommy, President, Lifesaving South Africa.

The top participants stand a chance of been selected for the Lifesaving South Africa National High Performance and Academy squads, as well as being selected for various National Lifesaving teams, including the honour of competing in the World Lifesaving Championships in Australia during 2012.

Hang Ten's association with Lifesaving South Africa enables them to contribute positively to saving lives by making the beaches safer.
