All Dwells with Me ...by Elena Nomis

04/04/11

Love approached me, wearing the musky fragrance of - Your Lies.

Beauty was a pendant around her neck and Charm clung to her like a suckling child.

She was fluent in your blasphemy, a huge inconvenience to my naivety.

Love was a qualified seductress; she arrived on a Sunday afternoon

Fully equipped with your air brushed reasons, your genetically-modified responses and your synthetic promises.

T’was all a myth! A parable!

None of what you had given me was of this life.

None of it was ever groomed of this soil or ever witnessed by these skies.

Your actions were sketched on cardboard;

Your words were cunningly stitched together, not thrown by your heart unto the carpet of your tongue.

Your touch was always guilty of the absence of emotion as though she had fled your body in ancient pasts.

Your gaze transformed my inhibition into a letter; I sealed and sent it to you my dyslexic editor

Yet winters and summers have passed each other at the door and neither they nor I have ever made acquaintance with your desired response!

You have only ever loved me in the wink of a fleeing promiscuous moment but denied me casually to the witnesses of our reality.

The protest in my heartbreak is the love child of my own stupidity and your sadistic love.

My perforated soul is the shamed product of your cloaked words but It all dwells with me because to you...

To you, I am a roasted autumn leaf;

I fell for you from above to meet my shattering on the ground.

To lie in silent sequence with many other leaves much like myself, now all masses of regretful collections gathered on the soles of your shoes;

Soiled, fooled and spoilt by the mirage that lurks in your voice...

But it all dwells with me.
