Uber is not playing around I see, as we trickle into summer, we all know that the best place to be at is indeed Cape Town, so as the universe would have it, first impressions are everything, and what better way to get acquainted with the Mother City than to meet her in a helicopter!
Uber has partnered with Cape Town Helicopters to bring you uberCHOPPER, a luxurious but affordable new offering at the tap of a button. Launching today on Friday 10 October 2014, riding the air currents becomes another form of transport for the #uberFAM in Cape Town.
This is all good and snazzy but how does it work you ask? Using the Uber app on your smartphone, select your location and request uberCHOPPER. An uberBLACK will pick you up and whisk you down to the V&A helipad. On your ride down to the V&A, Cape Town Helicopters will contact you and run you through the various helicopter flips on offer. At the helipad, the flight awaits and your chosen chopper ride will be charged directly to your Uber account. When it comes time to leave – open the app and request an uberBLACK. There is no need for any cash or tips to driver or pilot – like all Uber experiences payment is cashless, automatic and hassle free.
So as the summer start clothing the Mother city with international and local visitors, get ready to be acquainted with the city in style, and ride high with these three flights to choose from:
- TWO OCEANS:
Take off from the V&A Waterfront and enjoy a scenic flight along the Atlantic Coast over to False Bay, passing Fish Hoek to Muizenberg.
- FULL PENINSULA:
Cruise along the incredible coast of the Cape Peninsula; a trip from Cape Town to the Cape of Good Hope. View the jagged twists and turns of the very tip of Africa—a truly unforgettable experience.
- SPECIALISED TOURS:
Customise your trip to any helipad in Cape Town and surrounds; even add a bespoke experience such as a winelands tour, safari flight, shark cage diving or whale-watching from above.
What’s important to note? Requesting the uberCHOPPER books only your seat on the flight. There is a maximum of three riders per chopper with a minimum of two per trip. If privacy is the name of your game, there is an option to make it exclusive too, meaning you can decide with whom you want to share the ride.
Top Billing presenter Jeannie D with Siv Ngesi were the first riders to take an uberCHOPPER flight, and are thrilled with the experience. Jeannie has been a huge fan of Uber since it launched in South Africa and now with uberCHOPPER, her means of travel is really limitless. Both Jeannie and Uber are looking forward to an exciting summer season in Cape Town.
Experiencing the Mother City on land just doesn’t compare to drinking in her beauty from the sky above, so tap into ultimate freedom this summer season – uberCHOPPER all the way!
