And it all just gets better and better... Five of South Africa’s creative and talented artists have been added to the oh-so-awesome line-up for the Main Stage at the 10th annual Rocking the Daisies Festival this year, names such as Jack Parow, aKING, Al Bairre, Majozi and Bed on Bricks will be joining cool-kids such as Fokofpolisiekar and Bongeziwe Mabandla to compliment the international acts that so far include The Kooks, Milky Chance and The Cat Empire. we are told more acts will be announced soon, but jeez man the line up is already so much on fleek!!!

Jack Parow

Jack Parow, the Afrikaans superstar rapper, recently made YouTube history when the music video for his song “Cooler As Ekke” reached 3 million views – making it the most watched Afrikaans video in YouTube history. He describes his music as “dangerous romantic Afrikaans rap extravaganza”. Jack started out rapping with crews from the Cape Flats and has been at it for more than ten years. Today, his songs are hits on national radio stations and he has been on prime TV shows and on covers and centre-folds of publications in South Africa and in Europe.

Majozi

Majozi describes his music as being Indie-folk with subtle influences of electro and attributes his faith as one of his musical inspirations. His first EP, Marvelous Light, which was released in 2013 made it to No.1 on the South African iTunes chart in the singer/songwriter category. Following the online success and popularity of the EP, his single, The River, was playlisted on radio stations across the country with video proving hugely popular on Youtube. Over the past year, Majozi has been steadily climbing the South African music ladder, opening for Matthew Mole, Gangs of Ballet, Zebra and Giraffe and international artists, Yoav and The Lumineers. He officially signed with Universal Records recently and it seems the only way for this humble artist is up. His new single, Fire, has been playlisted across local radio stations and his new EP “Mountains” made it to No. 11 on the SA itunescharts.

aking

aKING is a melodic, alternative pop-rock band based in Cape Town, South Africa. The band is one of South Africa's top rock acts, drawing capacity crowds at venues and festivals across the country. Over the years, aKING’s energetic live sets and thought provoking lyrics have won them scores of loyal fans across generational and cultural boundaries.

Al Bairre

Al Bairre, the Cape Town based five-piece classic indie finger pop band, who combine cello, violin, guitars, keys, ukelele and drums, has played numerous successful shows alongside great acts such as The Hives, Alt–J, Skunk Anansie, St Lucia, Boys Noize and Dear Reader. Al Bairre draw influence from bands such as Arcade Fire, The Cure, Fleetwood Mac, Vampire Weekend, with their goal being to take an indie band and turn it into an “ice cream of orchestral sounds”. Their debut EP ‘When I Was Tall’ was very well received not only locally (won two MK awards in 2014) but also internationally with tracks being playlisted by campus and online radio stations across the world as well as being featured on commercials. Their new Single 'Bungalow' is currently soaring up the charts of radio stations countrywide.

Bed on Bricks

Bed on Bricks have made an impact as a fiery funk-hop act with incendiary, hard-rocking live performances ever since their inception in 2013. They have been rocking stages all over Southern Africa, headlining numerous rock festivals, touring relentlessly, and releasing three studio albums (Humanarium 2003, If you see Kay 2005, and Royal Honey 2008) and a live acoustic album, Takeaways, in 2006. In 2012, work on a fourth studio album was put on hold for a year after guitarist Dave van der Linden sustained a serious fracture to his wrist. The long wait for the band finally ended in December 2013 when the Bricks completed their ten-year anniversary “best of” album.
