Cape Town have lost 2 players due to injury that will face Congo for the African Nations Cup Qualifiers. The first player to withdraw from the squad was the Ajax Cape Town defender Ayabulela Magqwaka.
Just after Ayabulela was confirmed he was unavailable for the clash between South Africa and Congo Republic, Anele Ngcongca was also announced as unavailable for the clash. Anele Ngcongca was the most experienced defender, in the team picked by the Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba. Along with Yeye, Anele was the only surviving player that was part of the South African 2010 team.
The loss of the Ajax Cape Town teenager will not be a huge factor for Shakes Mashaba. As the young defender was in the team to gain some international experience. The loss of Ngcongca will be a huge factor to Mashaba's plans not just for the next 2 games but for his overall vision of the team.
Under Shakes Mashaba, the Belgian based Anele Ngcongca was played as a center back as opposed to his regular Bafana Bafana position which is the right back. His new partnership with Eric Mothoho has only considered one goal in 2 games. The Bafana coach would have wanted Ngcongca to be fit for the game 2 games, so that Ngcongca and Mothoho can continue working on their defensive relationship as the first choice centerbacks. For the games against Congo, Mashaba wont be too worried as Mothoho's centerback partner at Kaizer Chiefs, Tefu Mashimaite will fill in for Ngcongca. Tefu has been on great form of late
