StreetMag's 2nd annual Cape Town xi vs bafana
15/06/12

coach of Cape Town XI: Gavin Hunt
Goalkeeper:

Dareen Keet (GK, Kortrijk (Belguim));
Last year Josephs was on goals and Keet was on the bench. Keet might not have had a great season but in the end his club did reach the final of the Belgian Cup and he was the goalkeeper that took his team to the final. Keet might be rusty but I would rather go with him then Josephs as he did make some silly mistakes this season.
Defenders:

Nazeer Allie (RB, Ajax); Clayton Daniels (CB, Sundowns); Robyn Johannes (CB, Arrows); Sonwabile Lolo (LB, Ajax);
The fullbacks will help in the teams attack. Both the fullbacks are new in the team, with Nazeer making the bench last year due to Anele occupying the right back position. While both centerbacks have changed teams, they have remained unchanged from last years team. Everyone in the defense has been fairly consistent.
Midfielders:

Shameeg Doutie (RW,SuperSport); Anele Ngcongca (DM, Genk (Belguim)); Franklin Cale ( LW, SuperSport);
Only Shameeg has retained his position from last year. His good form did not take a dip from last as he helped SSU win their first Nedbank Cup. Anele has been moved from the right back position to the defense midfield role. Anele is a strong lad with a good vision. So he will be able to start attacks and be able to cover for the fullbacks when they are attacking. Franklin was awesome for SSU as he helped them finish 3rd in the PSL. Franklin has an awesome eye for goals so he will be able to move from the left to the middle to take those shots. Erwin will just go down to the left to cover for him.
Forwards:

Benni McCarthy (Captain, forward, Pirates); Thembinkosi Fanteni (Striker, Ajax); Erwin Isaacs (Forward, Santos);
There is no change in the striking force from last years team. Fanteni might have hardly featured for Ajax but in this game he needs to start because everyone knows what he is capable of. Rodgers will come in the second half to replace Fanteni, just to add new dimension to the team. Unlike last year, Benni will be the captain instead of being second in command of the team. His touches and experience will bring out the best out of Erwin Isaacs. All these 3 men are goal scorers that will insert fear to the Bafana Bafana defense.
